But the rest of it...well, let's just say sometimes my stuff doesn't even make it to the TOP of the stairs, and just sits at the bottom, waiting for a ride for a day or two.Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11942223629303845455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441873745400594431.post-52303229335009972422014-11-11T07:52:11.106-08:002014-11-11T07:52:11.106-08:00You just described about 90% of my existence. I am already seeing the beginnings of this sock phenomenon at 22 months - unfortunately they make a visit to his mouth, ewwww, before getting tossed aside...Jocelyn Jane Coxhttp://www.thehometome.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441873745400594431.post-84087092500081842592014-11-10T19:17:45.618-08:002014-11-10T19:17:45.618-08:00Dude. My kids' toys and stuff are all over the main floor of our house. Our kids do chores but they have to be ridden and monitored. I said I wanted them to start doing their own laundry but my husband says they leave stuff in their pockets too much and he worries they'd break the washer if we let them. Our dog doesn't eat socks so we don't have that strategy to use (but I damn sure would use it if we did!)Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11942223629303845455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441873745400594431.post-82512353798097044942014-11-08T15:09:49.358-08:002014-11-08T15:09:49.358-08:00I often wonder if I just forget that my mother pic...I often wonder if I just forget that my mother picked up after us so much, or if my sibs and I were just better at putting things away than most kids are these days. I really do think it's the latter. By the time I was 11 I was doing dishes and laundry, making my own lunch and certainly organizing myself for school. And it's not like my mother was a tyrant or anything. My kids (13 & 15) do weekly chores--not well and with a ton of nagging. They have no idea how the dishwasher, washer and dryer work, and could never change the sheets on a bed. And, of course, they leave their stuff EVERYWHERE! My daughter can make pasta and my son can pour cereal. I sometimes cooked dinner for the family at my daughter's age (15). I guess I've no one to blame but myself and my husband, though I don't think their friends are expected to do much either.

They ARE much better at socks than they used to be, though. Our dog would eat them and then poop them out (sometimes needing our assistance. Ew and sorry for the TMI). We've told the kids that one day the dog will choke or not be able to pass the socks through his body and could die, so on the rare occasion that they do leave socks on the floor or table we say "Do you want Tugger to die?!" And then we're good for a while.Margotnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441873745400594431.post-78099824247497508922014-11-07T09:27:10.763-08:002014-11-07T09:27:10.763-08:00Oh yes, the coffee table is the only location I me...Oh yes, the coffee table is the only location I mentioned because I was trying not to run to 1500 words. If I listed all the places the socks end up, this post would have been the length of the Manhattan phone book.Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11942223629303845455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2441873745400594431.post-47415742491726031542014-11-07T09:18:59.548-08:002014-11-07T09:18:59.548-08:00Yes to all, but the socks are what make me complet...Yes to all, but the socks are what make me completely crazy. My son's socks are spread about the house on any given day. And for some bizarre reason, they are never actually together.Cassandrahttp://www.thenextdelusion.comnoreply@blogger.com
